Sally Hansen is not the only cosmetics brand to try to beauty applications last year L'Oreal had tested augmented reality to test makeup products. "Makeup Genius" was based on the front camera of smartphones and tablets to turn them into virtual mirrors. The user could try different makeup just by facing the camera.
The concept of augmented reality seems to be democratized in the world of beauty. ModiFace launched its "ModiFace Mirror" this year. This invention allows "try" thousands of products (foundation, lipsticks, blushes ...) thanks to 3D technology and video. The user can zoom in on parts of the face and use a tool to detect nuance marrying best for her complexion.
